Earth
Humanity's homeworld, the target of the Covenant invasion in Halo 2.
Earth is the homeworld of humanity in the Halo series. In the 26th century humanity, under the Unified Earth Government and its United Nations Space Command, has colonized many other worlds using faster-than-light slipspace travel.
Lore & Background
In Halo 2 Master Chief and Cortana race back to Earth to warn of an impending Covenant invasion. Halo 3: ODST plays out in the ruined city of New Mombasa during that invasion, and in Halo 3 the Prophet of Truth comes to Earth believing the Ark is buried there, opening a slipspace portal from a buried artifact. A memorial service for the fallen of the Human-Covenant War is held on Earth at the end of Halo 3.
