Holy Scripture

The Goddess's sacred grimoires, from which priests cast the Magic of the Goddess.

The Holy Scriptures are grimoires that tell tales of the Mythical Era and serve as sacred texts for believers in the Goddess of Creation, who gave them to humanity. Priests use them to cast the Magic of the Goddess.

Background

The Goddess bestowed the texts 1,500 years ago. Besides her precepts they hide spells as cipher text, and priests have spent their lives decoding them: by the time of the Hero Party, records in the Holy City said only about three percent of the Magic of the Goddess had been found, and a single spell can take decades or centuries to decipher. Copies are common in believers' homes. Magic of the Goddess includes recovery magic that heals wounds, and the Goddess's blessing makes priests resistant to curses; to lift an ordinary curse a priest uses the Goddess's magic, performs a ritual, or removes the curse's source. The books look like ordinary spellbooks, marked with the Goddess's double-wing emblem, and spells cast through them usually glow green.
