Background
Demons descend from monsters that lured victims by calling for help, and over time they came to look and act more like humans to trick their prey. They have existed since the Mythical Era. Each demon devotes most of its life to mastering one kind of magic; they are individualistic, have no idea of family, and rank one another by mana, so they cannot imagine hiding it. They use speech to deceive humans, eat people, all have at least one horn, and dissolve into mana when they die.
The Demon King united them and waged war on humankind for over a thousand years. Its army ranked Demon Generals, skilled warriors who strengthen their bodies with mana, such as Revolte, Basalt the Throne, Schräg the Thunderbolt and Rivale, along with Greater Demons, the Seven Sages of Destruction and the King's confidant. After the Demon King fell, most demons went into hiding, but remnants of its army still fight humans in the north.
