Faerûn
The continent at the heart of the Forgotten Realms.
Faerûn is the continent that serves as the main setting of the Forgotten Realms, described in several editions of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, first published by TSR in 1987. Around a hundred novels, several video games and a film are set there.
Lore & Background
Its economy and technology resemble late medieval Western Europe, though trade between nations is common, and a magical gunpowder called smoke powder is starting to appear. Magic is the great difference from Earth: divine magic comes from its gods, arcane magic from the Weave. Groups such as the Harpers work for good, while the Red Wizards of Thay, the Cult of the Dragon and the Zhentarim pursue evil ends. The North holds the Sword Coast with Waterdeep and Neverwinter, the west includes Baldur's Gate and Candlekeep, and the south reaches the jungles of Chult.
