Lore & Background

Bonzo Madrid commands Salamander Army within Battle School. When Colonel Graff assigns Ender Wiggin to his squad, Bonzo is disgusted by the decision, viewing the untrained student as an insult to his leadership. Consequently, he forbids Ender from training with the rest of the squad or participating in simulated battles. Despite this exclusion, Cadet Petra Arkanian secretly trains Ender, much to Bonzo's chagrin.

In a subsequent match against another team, Bonzo again prohibits Ender from fighting. However, seeing his team losing and Petra in trouble, Ender disobeys orders, aids the squad, and helps secure a victory. Later, after Ender's own squad wins a surprise match against two teams, Salamander Army among them, Bonzo attacks Ender out of rage. During the physical altercation, Ender fights back, causing Bonzo to hit his head and sustain a serious injury.

The film shows Bonzo briefly in the infirmary receiving emergency surgery, leaving his ultimate fate ambiguous within the visual narrative.
