The Kargad Lands lie in the east of Earthsea. Their people, the Kargs, are white-skinned and often yellow-haired, and unlike the rest of Earthsea they forbid magic; they are also the exception among those who go to the Dry Land after death.

Kargish raiders attack Ged's village on Gont in A Wizard of Earthsea. The Tombs of Atuan is set in the Kargish empire, where the God-King sends prisoners to the Tombs. In The Other Wind the king of the Kargs, ruler of a warlike people who despise sorcery, sends his daughter to marry Lebannen as the price of peace.
