Plot

A small town becomes the site of a disaster when a meteorite hits a satellite, sending the wreckage down to Earth. Greg Aupolous sees the crash and picks up a piece, not noticing the green goo clinging to it. The goo infects his hand, making his veins bulge across his face, and he dies. Brothers Jake and Ethan are building an inn when they find the fallen satellite. They wrap it up and take it to local sculptor Earl, who is working on a piece called Iron Golem. Earl buys the wreckage for eight hundred dollars. As he works on his statue, infected fragments from the satellite fly onto it, spreading the goo. The giant statue comes to life, knocks Earl unconscious, and later kills a trucker whose truck malfunctions when he stops to check it. On their way back from the market, Jake and Ethan run into Amanda, Jake's old high school sweetheart, and her daughter Claire. Amanda is separated from her husband and plans to stay at her aunt's house. The Iron Golem finds the aunt's house, attacks, and kills her. Amanda and Claire flee to find the sheriff. While Jake goes to send a finder's fee to Greg's house, the Golem arrives at the inn and kills Ethan. Jake returns, finds his brother dead, and sees Iron walking away. He alerts the sheriff. Earl, now conscious and hearing reports on his radio, drives to the inn. The town coroner examines Ethan and finds his arteries and veins infected and swollen. Jake prepares to hunt the Golem. The sheriff goes back to the station, where Amanda and Claire approach him. Lights across town start flickering. In the local pub, Max, bartender Tony, and Harry notice this, as does Earl in his car, which suddenly dies. Tony looks out the window and sees Amanda, Claire, the sheriff, and Iron coming their way. Claire runs, falls, and gets a bloody forehead. Max helps her escape just before Iron grabs her. Jake returns in his car and tries to ram Iron until his car dies, but he manages to break off Iron's leg, causing the statue to fall apart. The infected pieces remain alive, and one grabs and kills the sheriff. Jake gets Amanda, and they hide in the pub with Earl, Tony, and Harry.
