The Republic of Calpheon is the political faction ruling the territories of Calpheon, Serendia and Balenos. It is governed by the Kalis, a council that appears to represent the state's social classes; its current chairman is Herman Feresio.

Background
The republic was formed when the young king Guy Seric died without an heir and the most powerful nobles and merchants set up a council to rule in his place. The Xian Merchant Guild is now its main economic power. Its lands are under pressure from barbarian races stirred up by Belmorn: the Delphe Knights hold the north-east against harpies and Khurutos, while the Trina Knights face Trolls in the north-west and Saunils in the south, helped by Kamasylvian archers under an old defensive treaty with the elves. Keplan and Serendia are vassal states still led by their former kings, now lords, and Balenos kept its local chiefs after surrendering without a fight.
