Gameplay
Gradius ReBirth is a side-scrolling 2D shooter similar to earlier Gradius titles, described as a remix of levels from past games. It offers two modes: a standard game with unlimited credits and a Score Attack mode granting a single credit, which supports online leaderboards. Players choose from five ship types across five stages, each stage except the first ending with an original boss.
Plot
Set in the Gradian Year 6664, two years before The Silent Nightmare Incident, the planet Antichthon, a Gradian Empire protectorate, falls silent. Dr. Venom, Director General of the Space Science Agency, reports that Antichthon's mother computer is controlled by the Bacterians. The Gradian Government deploys forces including Special Colonel James Burton, who previously defeated the Bacterians. Armed with the A.I. program Gaudie, he pilots the Vic Viper to counter the new threat.
