Gameplay
The game retains the traditional horizontal scrolling gameplay of the Gradius series. The player controls the Vic Viper through five stages, destroying Bacterion's army. A power-up bar from the original Gradius is used, allowing speed-ups, missiles, double firepower or lasers, options, and a forcefield. Before starting or continuing, a Weapon Select screen lets the player choose among three settings for missiles, double firepower, and lasers.
