Spaceballs: The Animated Series

An adult animated series parodying popular culture, loosely based on Spaceballs.

Last updated

Spaceballs: The Animated Series is an adult animated television series that premiered in 2008 on G4 in the United States and Super Channel in Canada.[1] Each episode parodies a different film or aspect of popular culture, such as the Star Wars prequel trilogy or Jurassic Park.[1]

Making and release

Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis, and George Wyner did not reprise their roles.[2] Promotional items for the series were seen at the 2007 Comic-Con.[3] Thirteen episodes were planned to debut during the fall of 2007, but that deadline passed without the show appearing on G4's schedule.[3] In early 2005, Brooksfilms, MGM, and Berliner Film Company oversaw the start of production.[2]

Mel Brooks oversaw the writing process and again voiced President Skroob and Yogurt, characters he played in the movie.[2] From the original film, Daphne Zuniga and Joan Rivers returned to voice their characters.[2] A June 1, 2008 premiere was announced, but the show faced another postponement.[4] The series first aired on Canada's Super Channel, and later made its G4 debut on September 21, 2008.[1]

After the original movie was broadcast, the initial two episodes were presented.[5]
