Children offer innocent, comedic perspectives on life topics.

Last updated

Kids Say the Darndest Things started as a regular part of Art Linkletter's show House Party, airing on CBS from 1959 to 1967. Bill Cosby later hosted hour-long specials in 1997, followed by a weekly series that ran until 2000. Tiffany Haddish hosted a revival on ABC in 2019, which then moved to CBS for a final season in 2021.

Premise

The host starts a conversation by asking a child a question about life topics, and the child responds with innocent, often comedic perspectives. In the first series, vintage clips from Art Linkletter's House Party were sometimes shown, with Cosby and Linkletter introducing them. The revival kept the same premise, with part of the show performed before a live audience and the rest consisting of taped segments.

Production

Kids Say the Darndest Things began as a regular segment on Art Linkletter's CBS Radio program House Party in 1945, later carried over to the CBS television version airing mostly five days a week from 1952 to 1969. The first series was produced by CBS Productions with LMNO Productions and Linkletter Productions. The revival was co-produced by CBS Studios, She Ready Productions, and Anvil 1893 Entertainment.
