Last updated
Bring It! is an American dance reality television series that first aired on March 4, 2014, on Lifetime. The show was renewed for multiple seasons, with the fifth season premiering on March 2, 2018. A traveling tour, Bring It Live!, was added shortly after the fourth season renewal.
Premise
Bring It! focuses on a multi-style competition team based in Jackson, Mississippi, following Coach Dianna "Miss D" Williams and her Dollhouse Dance Factory, founded in 2001. The troupe has over 15 Grand Champion titles and more than 100 trophies, consisting of children aged 10 to 17, with a younger group called the Baby Dancing Dolls for children under 11.
The team competes in hip-hop majorette competitions, primarily in Stand Battles called by the captain based on the opposing team's stand. Rival dance teams include the Divas of Olive Branch, the Prancing Tigerettes, the Infamous Dancerettes, the Purple Diamonds, the YCDT Superstars, and the Golden Prancerettes. Similar to Dance Moms, the show features the dancers' mothers and their interactions with Miss D, but the mothers watch practices from outside the studio or through a TV screen in later seasons.
Cast
Kayla, the former captain of the Dancing Dolls, excels in hip-hop and majorette and was promoted to assistant coach in Season 2 when Camryn took over as captain. Camryn, former captain, excels in majorette, lyrical, and jazz, and was promoted from Drill Master to Co-Captain in Season 1 and Captain in Season 2; her techniques intimidate other dancers. Sunjai excels at majorette, jazz, and tap, struggled in Season 1 but made stand battle cuts before the season ended, and departed at the end of Season 2 due to graduation.
Star and Sky are Sunjai's younger twin sisters, often mixed up by the DDPs and Coach Dianna. Crystianna, a co-captain, excels at majorette and acro, was the youngest stand battle team member, and is nicknamed the "Silent Killer." Faith, introduced in Season 3, excels in many dance aspects but is new to majorette. Jalen, originally a Dancing Doll before being kicked off in 2010, returned in 2015 after dancing with rival team Purple Diamonds.
Tanesha suffers from performance anxiety and became Head Drill Master in 2018. Angel and Angela: Angela made the battle squad team after her first year. Madyson, from the Purple Diamonds, was awarded DrillMaster in 2018. Princess, former captain of the Prancing Tigerettes and later the Dancing Dolls of Atlanta, joined the Dancing Dolls later.
Jaylene, a New York contortionist, joined in Season 5 after a brief stint with the Dancing Dolls of Atlanta. Tré and Quad are twin male hip-hop dancers. Matthew Thomas coaches Dance Force Elite of Chicago, Joerick Grice coaches the Golden Prancerettes of Tupelo, and Quincy Oliver coaches the Prancing Tigerettes.
