The Orc warlord Azhag the Slaughterer dug it up in the ruined city of Todtheim. Once he put it on, Nagash's spirit began to dominate him, joining the Orc's raw power with Nagash's tactical skill. Werner von Kriegstadt, Grand Master of the Knights Panther, killed Azhag in single combat and recovered the crown, and after a debate over whether to study or destroy it, the Grand Theogonist took it to Altdorf and sealed it in the Imperial Vaults.
