The Orbiter system was developed by Israeli company Aeronautics Defense Systems for military and security roles, seeing use in the Middle East since its introduction. In May 2015, Aeronautics announced the Orbiter 1K 'Kingfisher' variant, a loitering munition with a fuselage adapted to carry a 2 kg explosive payload. The Orbiter 1K can be controlled by an operator or given a waypoint to independently scan for and destroy stationary or moving targets; if no target is detected, it can return to base and land for reuse.
