Cadel Evans
Second twice, then first: Australia's Tour winner at 34.
Cadel Evans (born 14 February 1977) is an Australian former cyclist who raced in mountain biking and on the road and in 2011 became the first Australian to win the Tour de France. A four-time Olympian, he won the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in 1998 and 1999 and placed seventh in the cross-country race at the 2000 Sydney Olympics before switching to the road full-time in 2001. He finished second in the Tour in 2007 and 2008, both among the ten closest Tours in history, won the UCI ProTour in 2007 and the world road race championship in 2009. In 2011 he took the race lead on the penultimate day with a 42.5 km time trial ridden about two and a half minutes faster than Andy and Fränk Schleck, and at 34 was among the five oldest winners. With Greg LeMond and Egan Bernal he is one of three non-Europeans to have won the Tour.
