The Zonai are an ancient race in Tears of the Kingdom, hinted at by ruins in Breath of the Wild and revealed as the people who founded Hyrule; Rauru was its first king, with his Hylian wife Sonia.

Zonai technology fills Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom, from Shrines and ruins to Zonai devices. They also made the Geoglyphs around the Dragon's Tears, which Link studies to learn about Zelda's disappearance. Creating a Champion describes them as magic users who worship the Triforce.
