Lore & Background
The Great Deku Tree guards them and treats them as his children; his power stops them ageing once they reach childhood. They are cautious and secretive and believe they will die if they leave the forest. Each one has a small fairy as lifelong friend, guardian and teacher. In Ocarina of Time Link is raised among them, but he was not born a Kokiri: his Hylian mother left him with the Great Deku Tree as a baby.
