Lore & Background

After the infected attack on Jackson and Joel's death, Tommy cleans his brother's body and Ellie wakes in hospital screaming. Three months on, she talks her way through a session with the therapist Gail and mourns in Joel's house until Dina tells her Joel's killers, members of the Washington Liberation Front, are based in Seattle. The town council votes against sending a group after them. Ellie decides to go alone; Dina insists on coming, and Seth quietly gives them a horse and supplies.

The episode was filmed around April 2024, and the writers wanted it to let the audience grieve for Joel alongside Jackson. It introduces the Seraphites, a religious group in Seattle whose facial scars took several prosthetic designs. The episode had 768,000 viewers on linear television.
