Day One

Lore & Background

In 2018 FEDRA sergeant Isaac Dixon turns on his own squad, sparing only Burton, and joins the Washington Liberation Front; eleven years later he leads it and tortures a Seraphite for information. Ellie and Dina begin searching Seattle for Abby, sheltering in a music store where Ellie plays A-ha's "Take On Me" for Dina. At night they find WLF soldiers butchered by the Seraphites and escape through the subway, where Ellie lets an infected bite her arm to protect Dina.

The episode adapts and expands scenes from The Last of Us Part II, with the "Take On Me" scene taken directly from the game. Jeffrey Wright, who plays Isaac, was nominated for an Emmy as guest actor. It had 774,000 viewers on linear television.
