Star-Crossed Lovers

The romance Haymitch sold to the sponsors.

"Star-crossed lovers" is the public image Haymitch builds for Katniss and Peeta in the 74th Hunger Games. He advises Katniss to act as if she loves Peeta to win wealthy sponsors who can send supplies into the arena. After the Games the pair keep up the story during the Victory Tour, and in District 12 Gale and Katniss are passed off as cousins so their closeness does not undercut it.
