Soft Drop

Speeding up a falling piece's descent.

A soft drop speeds up the descent of the falling tetromino. It is one of the mechanics common to modern Tetris versions, alongside the hard drop, the next-piece queue and hold, and it can earn the player points. The New Tetris (1999) offered both soft and hard drops.
