Reception
Michael S. Lasky of Computer Gaming World stated that the game was aptly named because it was indeed super. Frank O'Connor of Computer and Video Games appreciated the addition of bombs but felt the game was too similar to the original. Steve White of Amiga Action recommended Super Tetris for those not yet tired of the concept, though he thought Tetris had already peaked. Daniel Whitehead of Amiga Computing considered the game poor value and advised against buying it for anyone who already owned Tetris.
Stuart Campbell of Amiga Power expressed boredom with Tetris and lost interest in Super Tetris after twenty minutes, calling it overpriced. Tony Dillon of CU Amiga praised the Russian music and the two-player link-up option but concluded the game was not sufficiently different from the original to warrant purchase. Gary Whitta of The One noted some sloppiness but still called it the best official version, though he doubted many would pay the price.
Ed Ricketts of Amiga Format rated it merely quite good and commended Spectrum Holobyte for adding longevity to an average puzzle game.
