Scoring System

In Tetris, clearing more lines at once earns a higher score, and clearing four lines at once by dropping an I-shaped tetromino into a single-column gap, called a "Tetris", earns the most in most versions. Players can also gain points with hard and soft drops. The scoring system has stayed mostly the same since Tetris DS (2006). Pajitnov's original version had no scoring and no levels.
