DAS (Delayed Auto Shift)

The pause before a held direction starts repeating.

Delayed auto-shift (DAS) controls how a held direction repeats. In the NTSC version of NES Tetris, pressing a movement key moves the piece one cell at once, then it waits 16 frames before moving again every 6 frames, ten times per second; DAS is faster in the PAL version. In the Classic Tetris World Championship, players who rely on DAS can play at the highest level.
