Production
Apple TV+ gave the green light to a Dick Turpin comedy series starring Noel Fielding in April 2022. By August 2023, Hugh Bonneville, Asim Chaudhry, and Tamsin Greig had joined the cast. Ben Palmer directed the first three episodes, with George Kane handling the final three. Show creators Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis, and Stuart Lane co-wrote the premiere with Fielding, while Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain co-wrote the remaining episodes with him. Filming had already started when the project was announced, including scenes at Ludlow Castle in Shropshire. A second season was ordered in July 2024, but was cancelled after Fielding failed to return to set in January 2025, reportedly with 75% of production complete; his agent cited illness. Scheduled guest stars for the second season included Jason Isaacs, Miranda Richardson, and Dawn French.
