The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal supergroup on Nuclear Blast, made up of five musicians who previously played in In Flames. The band came together in 2019, founded by Jesper Strömblad, Mikael Stanne, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson. Their goal was to revive the 1990s "Gothenburg sound" that helped define melodic death metal. The name was inspired by the Rush song "Halo Effect" from the album *Clockwork Angels*. Their debut single, "Shadowminds," arrived in November 2021, followed by the album *Days of the Lost* in August 2022. To promote it, they toured Europe and the UK with Amon Amarth and Machine Head. A second album was recorded in 2024, with its first single "Detonate" released that September. The album, *March of the Unheard*, came out in January 2025. Later that year, the band issued a covers EP titled *We Are Shadows* in November. Current members include Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad (who does not tour), and Daniel Svensson. Live musicians are Patrik Jensen on guitar and Anton Roos on drums.
