Dynazty was established by Love Magnusson and John Berg in 2007. Soon members Georg Härnsten Egg and Joel Fox Apelgren joined. After a few gigs with various vocalists, they found singer Nils Molin through Myspace in Spring of 2008. The band took part in Melodifestivalen 2011 with "This Is My Life", a metal cover of the previous winner Anna Bergendahl, and again in 2012 with "Land of Broken Dreams", which reached the "second chance" round but failed to make the Final 10.

The band released its third album Sultans of Sin on 24 February 2012, produced by Peter Tägtgren, with co-writing contributions from Chris Laney and Nicke Borg. In 2013, Dynazty signed with Spinefarm Records for their fourth studio album Renatus, marking a change in sound, line-up, and lyrical themes toward mortality and spirituality. Subsequent albums Titanic Mass (2016) and Firesign (2018) continued this melodic direction, with Firesign featuring a more fast-paced and less metal direction. In July 2017, Nils Molin became permanent vocalist of Amaranthe while continuing with Dynazty.

In July 2018, Dynazty signed to AFM Records and released the album Firesign on 28 September 2018. Their seventh album The Dark Delight was released on 3 April 2020, featuring collaborations with Amaranthe bandmate Henrik "Gg6" Englund Wilhelmsson. The eighth album Final Advent was recorded beginning July 2021 and released on 26 August 2022.
