Cyhra was assembled in 2017, bringing together musicians from prominent heavy metal bands. The founding lineup included vocalist Jake E, guitarist Jesper Strömblad, drummer Alex Landenburg, and guitarist Euge Valovirta. Bassist Peter Iwers joined initially but left in 2018, after which Strömblad and Valovirta took over bass duties. Marcus Sunesson became a live member in 2018 and a full member in 2020.

The band released their debut studio album Letters to Myself in 2017, followed by No Halos in Hell in 2019, and The Vertigo Trigger in 2023. They have also issued multiple singles, including 'Karma' (2017), 'Heartrage' (2018), and 'Battle from Within' (2019). A live bassist known as 'Mr. ASUS' has performed with the band since 2019.
