Assassin's Creed Revelations
Concludes the Ezio Trilogy with a journey to Constantinople.
Assassin's Creed: Revelations, a 2011 action-adventure title from Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, serves as the fourth major entry in the Assassin's Creed series and directly follows 2010's Brotherhood, wrapping up the "Ezio Trilogy." It launched on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows in November and December of that year. A remastered version, bundled with Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood as part of The Ezio Collection, arrived on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2016, and later on Nintendo Switch in February 2022.
The story, set against a fictional backdrop of real history, continues the ancient conflict between the Assassins—who champion peace and free will—and the Templars, who seek control for order. The modern-day framing follows Desmond Miles, who, after falling into a coma at the end of Brotherhood, must relive his ancestors' memories via the Animus to wake up and prevent a 2012 apocalypse. The main narrative takes place in 1511 and 1512, following an aging Ezio Auditore da Firenze as he journeys to Constantinople to retrieve five keys unlocking a library built by Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad, the protagonist of the first game. There, Ezio gets entangled in a succession war for the Ottoman throne and uncovers a Byzantine Templar plot to seize the keys and the library for themselves.
Gameplay remains third-person in an open world, emphasizing combat, climbing, and stealth to eliminate targets and explore. Players control Ezio for most of the game, freely navigating Constantinople and tackling side missions. Altaïr appears in a smaller role, featured in flashback missions set in Masyaf from 1189 to 1257. In the modern day, Desmond is controlled in first-person platforming sequences inside the Animus. The multiplayer mode from Brotherhood returns, expanded with new maps, characters, and game modes.
Multiple editions were released, some including exclusive limited-time content. Notably, several came with the animated short *Assassin's Creed: Embers*, which properly concludes Ezio's story and was later made available as a free download on the PlayStation Store. Downloadable content added multiplayer maps and characters, plus a story expansion called *The Lost Archive*, which introduces more platforming levels set in the Animus (simulating memories of Subject 16).

Reader's Guide
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is significant as the concluding chapter of the Ezio Trilogy, wrapping up the stories of both Ezio Auditore and Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad. It introduced new gameplay features such as the Hookblade, which speeds up navigation by around 30 percent, and bomb crafting with around 15 variations. The game also expanded the multiplayer mode from Brotherhood with additional maps, characters, and game modes. Upon release, it received largely positive reviews, with praise for its world design and narrative, though some noted the gameplay was becoming overly familiar. It was a large commercial success, outperforming its predecessors.
