Agent 8
The amnesiac Octoling of the Deepsea Metro.
Agent 8 is the protagonist of Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion (2018), an Octoling with no memory who wakes up trapped in an underground subway, the Deepsea Metro. A talking Telephone calls them "Applicant 10,008", and Cap'n Cuttlefish, trapped there too, shortens it to "Agent 8".

Background
To reach "the promised land", Agent 8 collects four "thangs" from the Metro's test chambers, guided by radio by Pearl and Marina of Off the Hook. The Telephone then tries to kill Agent 8 and Cuttlefish in a giant blender, but Agent 3 breaks in and rescues them; Agent 8 later frees a brainwashed Agent 3 in battle. On the surface the Telephone reveals itself as Commander Tartar, an AI built by a human scientist, and Agent 8 helps stop it from destroying Inkopolis. Agent 8 returns as the playable character of Splatoon 3's Side Order.
