Procyon is the brightest star in Canis Minor and usually the eighth-brightest in the night sky, with an apparent magnitude of 0.34. It lies just 11.46 light-years away.

It is a binary of a white F5 main-sequence star and a faint white dwarf that orbit every 40.84 years. With Sirius and Betelgeuse it forms the Winter Triangle.
