The star at the centre of the Solar System.

The Sun is the star at the centre of the Solar System, a sphere of hot plasma powered by nuclear fusion in its core. It is the main source of energy for life on Earth.

It is about 109 times Earth's diameter and holds about 99.86% of the Solar System's mass. It formed about 4.6 billion years ago, and light takes about 8 minutes to reach Earth.
