PSR B1919+21
The first radio pulsar ever discovered, once nicknamed LGM-1.
PSR B1919+21 is the first radio pulsar to be discovered, found by Jocelyn Bell Burnell on 28 November 1967 with the Interplanetary Scintillation Array at Cambridge. It pulses every 1.3373 seconds and lies in Vulpecula.
Its signal was so regular that it was jokingly nicknamed LGM-1, for little green men, until a similar signal was found elsewhere in the sky. Its original name was CP 1919.
