Earth

Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbour life. It is the only body in the Solar System with liquid surface water: the ocean covers 70.8% of its surface.

Its crust is made of moving tectonic plates that build mountains and volcanoes, and its liquid outer core generates a magnetic field that shields it from most of the solar wind. Its atmosphere is mostly nitrogen and oxygen.
