Horsehead Nebula
A dark dust cloud shaped like a horse's head in Orion.
The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) is a small dark nebula about 1,375 light-years away in Orion, just south of Alnitak in Orion's Belt. It is part of the Orion molecular cloud complex and shows up as dark dust against the glowing region IC 434.
Williamina Fleming discovered it in 1888 on a photographic plate at Harvard College Observatory.
