Betelgeuse

Betelgeuse is a red supergiant star in Orion, usually the tenth-brightest star in the night sky. It varies between magnitude +0.0 and +1.6. Its radius is 640 to 764 times the Sun's.

Its distance is estimated at 400-600 light-years. It is less than 10 million years old and is expected to explode as a supernova, most likely within 100,000 years.
