Sons of Anarchy season 2

The second season of *Sons of Anarchy* aired on FX from September 8 to December 1, 2009, spanning 13 episodes. Created by Kurt Sutter, the show revolves around an outlaw motorcycle club in the fictional Central Valley town of Charming, California, with the story focusing on Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam), the club's vice president, as he starts to doubt his path. This season brings in the League of American Nationalists (LOAN), a white separatist group led by Ethan Zobelle and his enforcer, A.J. Weston, who aim to push SAMCRO out of Charming.

In the plot, LOAN makes its presence felt by having Gemma kidnapped and gang-raped by Weston and two others as a warning. The growing tension between Jax and club president Clay Morrow deepens as Jax challenges more of Clay's decisions, especially after a car bomb nearly kills another member. Throughout the season, SAMCRO fights LOAN for control of Charming, Jax and Clay drift further apart over their differing visions for the club, and the ATF remains a constant threat.

The main cast includes Charlie Hunnam as Jax, Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller Morrow, Mark Boone Junior as Bobby Elvis, Kim Coates as Tig Trager, Tommy Flanagan as Chibs Telford, Ryan Hurst as Opie Winston, Johnny Lewis as Half Sack Epps, William Lucking as Piney Winston, Theo Rossi as Juice Ortiz, Maggie Siff as Tara Knowles, and Ron Perlman as Clay Morrow. Special guest stars are Adam Arkin as Ethan Zobelle, Ally Walker as Agent June Stahl, and Tom Everett Scott as Rosen. Recurring cast members include Dayton Callie as Wayne Unser, Henry Rollins as A.J. Weston, Taylor Sheridan as Deputy Chief David Hale, and many others, with guest appearances by Tom Arnold, Cleo King, Olivia Burnette, and Kenny Johnson.

Production took place primarily at Occidental Studios Stage 5A in North Hollywood, where the clubhouse, St. Thomas Hospital, and Jax's house were built. The writing staff's production rooms doubled as the Charming police station. External scenes were often shot in Sun Valley and Tujunga. Creator Kurt Sutter explained that Half Sack was killed off in "Na Trioblóidí" because actor Johnny Lewis wanted to leave due to creative differences, and they aimed to give him a noble exit.

The second season received critical acclaim, with a significant improvement over the first.
