Production
FX gave the green light to a second season of Mayans M.C. in October 2018. The following August, co-creator Kurt Sutter announced he would walk away from the show if a third season happened, explaining that it was time for a white man to step aside. While season two was still on the air, Sutter was fired as co-showrunner in October 2019. He suspects that his jokes targeting Disney, following the Disney-Fox merger, caused his removal. Sutter had also wanted to introduce more characters from the show’s predecessor, Sons of Anarchy.
