Lore & Background
Spots where a stealth move is possible glow with blue sparkles, explained as Sly's thief senses. There Sly can shimmy along a narrow ledge, land on a point such as an antenna, climb a pipe, or use his cane to grapple onto something.
Reader's Guide
A PlayStation Magazine retrospective described the first game as mixing one-hit-kill arcade action with Splinter Cell-style sneaking.
Sly prefers sneak attacks because of his limited endurance, and his cane makes noise that can draw other enemies. In Sly 2 he can sneak behind two enemies and take them out in one combo, or pickpocket them.
