A blister-like protrusion filled with serous fluid in various tissues.
A bleb is a blister-like protrusion filled with serous fluid that can form in various tissues. In medicine, blebs are notable for their association with conditions such as frostbite, pulmonary emphysema, and glaucoma treatment. Pulmonary blebs are small subpleural air-containing spaces that can rupture, causing spontaneous pneumothorax. In ophthalmology, functional blebs are intentionally created to facilitate aqueous humor circulation.
