History

Banks o' Dee made their Scottish Cup debut on 27 September 2008, defeating Fort William 10–0 in the first round. They were eliminated in the second round on 27 October 2008, losing 5–1 to Inverurie Loco Works. Later that year, on 28 October 2008, they reached the Aberdeenshire Shield final after a 6–1 semi-final win over Highland League side Huntly at Spain Park, having earlier beaten Buckie Thistle 3–1 at the same venue. They lost the final 2–0 to Cove Rangers.

In the 2009–10 Scottish Cup, Banks o' Dee won 5–1 away to Rothes on 26 September 2009, then lost 3–0 at home to Montrose of the Scottish Football League Third Division in the second round. After qualifying for the Scottish Cup through winning the North Region Superleague, the club became a full licensed SFA member in 2014, automatically qualifying for the competition. They again drew Rothes away in the first round, winning 4–0, and were knocked out 5–0 away to Brora Rangers in the second round.

On 12 April 2017, the BBC reported that a football belonging to the under-19 team had washed ashore on a small island north of Tromsø, Norway, over 1,000 miles away. In 2019 the club was invited to apply for the Highland Football League to replace promoted Cove Rangers but declined. In 2022, Banks o' Dee won promotion to the Highland Football League after Fort William withdrew from a two-leg play-off due to player eligibility rules, resulting in Banks o' Dee's promotion and Fort William's relegation.
