Blantyre Celtic F.C.
Scottish junior club that folded after repeated fixture withdrawals.
Blantyre Celtic Football Club was a Scottish junior side from Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, formed in 1914 as Blantyre United before changing its name two years later. The club played under the Scottish Junior Football Association and reached the Scottish Junior Cup semi-finals three times—1923–24, 1937–38, and 1945–46—losing on each occasion. Its local rival was Blantyre Victoria, known as the Vics, who had stronger financial backing from a large social club at their ground; Celtic, based in a poorer area of the village, lacked that support. The senior side collapsed near the end of the 1992–93 season after repeatedly withdrawing from fixtures, leading to suspension and expulsion from the Central League. The club reformed as an amateur team in 2010.
