Last updated

Ace Online, also known as AirRivals, is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online 3D shooter developed by MasangSoft Inc. and owned by YD Online Corp. It is notable for its aerial combat and player-versus-player focus.

History

In North America, the game was initially released as Space Cowboy Online through the gPotato portal operated by Gala-Net. Its client became available for download on May 22, 2006, and service began on May 26, 2006. Space Cowboy Online shut down on December 26, 2007, announced via a letter from the last active GM, "Xarfox". The European version, hosted by GameForge4D GmbH, was renamed AirRivals in early 2008, having originally been intended to be called Flysis.

The North American release followed on September 26, 2008, hosted by Suba Games under the title Ace Online. Other publishers later acquired licenses: Arario Corporation launched in Japan in the first quarter of 2009, and Axeso5 opened the first Latin American server in February 2011. In 2016, GameForge4D GmbH relinquished its hosting rights, which were transferred to MasangSoft, and the European version was renamed Ace Online.
