Glasgow Cup

Forty-four senior wins in the city's own cup.

The Glasgow Cup is a competition for Glasgow clubs run by the Glasgow Football Association. It was contested by the city's senior clubs every year from 1887 to 1989, when it was once considered on a par with the league or the Scottish Cup, and Rangers won it 44 times, with Celtic on 29 including one shared win. Only five senior finals, in 1889, 1915, 1946, 1947 and 1989, did not involve one of the Old Firm.

Reader's Guide

The winners received a globular silver trophy. European football made the cup less important, and in its later years it was often left unfinished or held over to the start of the following season; it was not played at all between 1971 and its return in 1974-75. Since the rules were amended in 2019-20 it has been played between the senior sides of Clyde, Partick Thistle and Queen's Park and the youth teams of Celtic and Rangers, in knock-out and round-robin formats, and Rangers have won a further 15 editions against Celtic's 11 up to the 2022 final. It is a separate competition from the Scottish Youth Cup.
