Synopsis

When Pluto is snatched by the Weasels for his diamond-studded collar, Mickey calls Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy for help. Pete overhears the call and tails them. Professor Ludwig von Drake builds race cars so the group can chase the Weasels across the United States, following postcards they left behind. After a final race, the Weasels are captured and jailed. Mickey finds Pluto, only to learn the "diamonds" are actually glass beads from one of Minnie's old necklaces. The friends then head home.

Reception

The Nintendo 64 version received average reviews according to video game review aggregator Metacritic. Matthew Byrd, writing for Den of Geek in 2017, said the game could not compete with similar titles like Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart 64, or Crash Team Racing due to its courses being basic recreations of US locations, its slim power-ups, problematic artificial intelligence, and thin roster of karts and tracks. Despite these flaws, he thought Rare produced an engagingly charming and functional kart racing title.
