Gameplay

The game retains the core Katamari mechanic of rolling a sticky ball over objects to grow it within a time limit. New features use the Vita's touch screen and rear touch panel: players can move the Katamari by swiping the front screen, and squash or stretch it by dragging on the back panel. Stretching allows rolling over more objects, while squashing helps fit into tight spaces.

Plot

A boy asks his father who is more awesome, the King of All Cosmos or his principal. The mother says both are equally awesome, and the King overhears, becoming distraught. Elsewhere, a slacker named Goro, who avoids studying, sees a news report about the King's depression and decides to start a new lifestyle.

Reception

The game received average reviews on Metacritic. Famitsu scored it 32 out of 40. Media Create did not list it among the top 50 selling games in its debut week. Critics noted that recycled stages made it better for newcomers than veterans, with one preview stating the series continues to miss the point.
