Gameplay

A ghost slumbers in a deserted town until new residents arrive and disturb its rest. To reclaim its peace, the player guides the ghost through buildings, possessing objects to frighten the inhabitants. Each scare boosts the room's atmosphere, granting new abilities for possessed items. The objective is to empty every building; however, excessive terror can drive a person to leap from a window. Once a building is cleared, the ghost moves to the next. After the entire town is evacuated, the ghost is revealed in a family portrait. Certain actions can eliminate characters immune to scaring, turning them into ghosts that return to the clock tower and join the painting there.

Reception

Haunt the House: Terrortown received mixed or average reviews, according to Metacritic, with the PlayStation Vita and iOS versions both scoring 73 out of 100 based on four reviews each. Christian Donlan of Eurogamer gave the game an 8 out of 10, noting a surprisingly dark heart and a sense of mischief conveyed by the prey's bug-eyed howls and the jazz-club soundtrack.
