Reception

Azkend 2: The World Beneath received mixed or average reviews for Switch and Xbox One, and generally favorable reviews for its HD iOS version, according to Metacritic. Gamezebo stated that match-3 games do not reach higher quality than what is found in Azkend 2, calling it a standard for the genre. Pocketgamer described it as an entertaining match-three puzzler with an interesting story, but noted it is sometimes let down by poor design. TouchArcade found the board layouts too frustrating and said the game never opens up enough to make the struggle worthwhile. Appspy said it is aimed toward casual players and combines an interesting spin on match three gameplay with an adventurous tale. SlideToPlay called it a surprise on every level, combining puzzles and a great story. AppSmile wrote that it is infused with a fun storyline and collectible power-ups. 148apps noted that the original Azkend was easy to beat, but Azkend 2 goes deeper with a more dramatic difficulty increase.
