Last updated
Sparkle Computer Co., Ltd., based in Taipei and founded in 1982, is a Taiwanese electronics firm that writes its name as SPARKLE. The company focused on making video cards built around Nvidia graphics processors, as well as cooling components like fans and heatsinks for graphics controllers. Sparkle stood out as one of the few manufacturers still producing modern discrete video cards that used the older PCI bus, releasing PCI versions of the GeForce 8 and GeForce 9 series, and later the GeForce 200 and GeForce 600 series on that same interface. In April 2023, Sparkle returned to the graphics card market, this time launching a lineup of Intel Arc series graphics cards.
Background
Sparkle Computer Co., Ltd. was established in 1982 in Taipei, Taiwan, and became a specialist manufacturer of video cards built around Nvidia graphics processing units, as well as cooling peripherals such as fans and heatsinks for graphics controllers. The company carved a niche by being one of the few manufacturers to produce modern discrete video cards using the aging PCI bus, releasing PCI versions of the GeForce 8 series, GeForce 9 series, GeForce 200 series, and GeForce 600 series.
These PCI cards included models such as the GeForce 7900 PCI, GeForce 8400 PCI, GeForce 8500 PCI, GeForce 9400 PCI, and GeForce 9500 PCI, each offered in various memory configurations and with either active or passive cooling. Sparkle also introduced low profile PCI Express cards from the GeForce 9 series, including a GeForce 9300GS, GeForce 9600, and GeForce 9800 GT. After a period away from the graphics card market, Sparkle re-entered in April 2023 by listing a set of Intel Arc series graphics cards on its website, including the Sparkle Intel Arc A750 Titan OC Edition, A750 Orc OC Edition, and A380 ELF. The company continued its Intel Arc line by listing Battlemage B580 and B570 cards on 13 December 2024.
